Five years ago we bought a cedar and log cabin on a 12 acre wooded lot. We lovingly call it our Lodge. We go there every chance we can, nearly every weekend once the snow is gone in the spring until late November or early December when we close it up for the winter.
This blog is simply a commentary about the experiences of owning the place, the things we do, the people and wildlife we meet, impressions, tips for others, etc. It’s not meant to be profound, but rather to reflect what we call the lodge lifestyle… gentle, reflective, refreshing and energizing.
Our lodge is a place where close friends and family gather from time to time, or where my spouse and I retreat alone. Our grandchildren love the lodge and now that they are old enough (the two oldest turn six later this year), they start asking in early spring, “When can we go to the lodge”.
That to us is very special because that is the primary reason we bought it… as a special family place.
The other thing we did was to start a rustic living website dedicated to this theme . We are always interested in feedback and welcome your comments. There is a comment page on the site.
